Accessibility at the Capitol

The Capitol is dedicated to making Capitolfest as accessible as possible. Please use this information to guide your visit. If you have specific questions about accessibility, please contact us at 315-337-6277 or email julie@romecapitol.com.

  • The Capitol is a two-story building. There is no elevator to the second floor.

  • The orchestra level floor is slightly raked. Those will balance challenges may benefit from assistance walking down the aisle.

  • The theater auditorium is dark during screenings, particularly if you have just come in from a bright area. We recommend being seated by showtime. Staff or volunteers are happy to use a flashlight to assist you into the theater if necessary.

  • Several aisle seats throughout the theater have ADA-compliant armrests, meaning the armrest will either raise up or swing out to allow a person to slide into the seat. These seats are: F101, F11, X101, X111, O21, P1, F101, Q2, and Q22. If you need assistance finding these seats, please see a staff member or volunteer.

  • The only dedicated area in the theater for wheelchair seating is the open sections at the rear of houses right and left. This area has several companion chairs available.

  • There are handicap-accessible restrooms located in the theater foyer.
