Although Captiolfest officially starts on Friday, arriving on Thursday has many benefits!
Mixer
The annual Mixer is a gathering that takes place on Thursday night. The Mixer provides an opportunity to grab a bite to eat, meet some new friends, and catch up with friends from years past.
Badge Pick-Up
Those who have pre-registered for the festival are welcome to pick up their badges and program booklets at designated times beginning Thursday night. Registration takes place at superofficial cafe, to the right of the theater marquee.
Thursday Night Warhorse
Get into movie-viewing mode a little early. On Thursday night, patrons have the chance to catch a movie in the historic Capitol. Although the movie is not officially a part of Capitolfest, it will usually have something to do with the year’s tribute star(s). For example, in 2026, patrons enjoyed Ruggles of Red Gap (1935) with tribute star ZaSu Pitts and, in 2026, If I Had a Million (1932) with tribute star Charlie Ruggles.
Admission to this movie is not included with Capitolfest registration, but is offered to festival attendees at a discount.
Trivia
New in 2026, patrons enjoyed film and Capitolfest trivia, hosted by superofficial and Movie Jawn! Players competed for prizes and established what is likely to be an annual tradition.
