Getting to Rome
By Air:
The nearest commercial airport is Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR). From there, it will take approximately 40 minutes to drive to Rome. Car rentals are available at the airport, and services like Uber are affordable ways to get to Capitolfest.
By Train:
AMTRAK serves Rome’s train station, located at 6599 Martin Street (about a six-minute drive from the Capitol Theatre). Please note that this station is unmanned and has no personnel available to assist with booking questions. There are also no car rental stations at this station. However, ride-share apps are a great way to travel from the train station to your hotel or the theater.
By Car:
Automobile is by far the most convenient way to get around Central New York. To get to Rome, one can take:
I-90 (Thruway): Take exits 31 (Utica), 32 (Westmoreland), or 33 (Verona) to connect to the city.
State Routes: The city is directly served by State Routes 26, 46, 49, and 365.
Parking options are abundant in Downtown Rome. By special arrangement with the City of Rome, all street parking is free and unlimited during Capitolfest, so please disregard any two-hour parking signs beginning the Friday of the festival and after 4:00 PM.

Lodging In and Near Rome
There are many hotels in the City of Rome. The Ramada is currently the only hotel within walking distance of the Capitol. Some hotels, such as those at the Griffiss Business and Technology Park, are convenient options for drivers. In addition, those who drive may consider the many options in nearby locales like Verona, Utica, and New Hartford. Although they are not within the City of Rome, you will typically find the driving times reasonable and predictable. Booking well in advance is best, since hotels fill up quickly.
